Word for the day: "Mighty Warrior"
Judges 6:11 – 15 (MSG) One day the angel of God came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, whose son Gideon was threshing wheat in the winepress, out of sight of the Midianites. 12) The angel of God appeared to him and said, "God is with you, O mighty warrior!" 13) Gideon replied, "With me, my master? If God is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all the miracle-wonders our parents and grandparents told us about, telling us, 'Didn't God deliver us from Egypt?' The fact is, God has nothing to do with us—he has turned us over to Midian." 14) But God faced him directly: "Go in this strength that is yours. Save Israel from Midian. Haven't I just sent you?" 15) Gideon said to him, "Me, my master? How and with what could I ever save Israel? Look at me. My clan's the weakest in Manasseh and I'm the runt of the litter." Happy Friday Sisters and Brothers believe it or not there is Great purpose for each of our lives in God. God calls every human being to serve in His Kingdom in some capacity. Today’s word reiterates this profound truth. When God came to Gideon in the winepress, Gideon was trying to avoid being seen by his enemies and, at the same time, attempting to make a living like so many of us. Then at the most unlikely of times an angel of the Lord came to Gideon and said, “Oh mighty warrior!” Gideon found these words strange. His response was “Who, me? Warrior? You must have the wrong address. I am just a farmer.” But God saw His purpose for Gideon’s life of which Gideon could not have fathomed in his wildest dreams. God saw Gideon’s future of which was steeped in His purpose as being a mighty warrior for change and solution to the domination rendered to the children of Israel the people of God by the Midianites. Gideon was God’s “Mighty Warrior” to rescue, relieve, and restore the purposes of God for His people for such a time as that. Similar purposes are yours today sisters and brothers; yes you are the mighty warrior for your family, your church, your community, and your job! So my question to you in this season is what personal crisis is at the front door of your life? My words to you this Friday are “Oh mighty warrior”, be the change God has called you to be!!! Have a Great weekend, Love you!Elder James Baker
