Word for the day "Time to Vote in 2020"
Psalm 89:14 (NKJV) Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face.
The reality of our democracy is in the balance.
As we prepare for one of the most if not the most historical election in the history of America. The history of our country with controversial elections has some concerning facts and we all need to make sure your vote is counted in 2020, so we don’t have a repeat of history.Americans have been refining the election process since the election of 1800, which originally resulted in an Electoral College tie.The House of Representatives gave Thomas Jefferson the presidency and that first contested election resulted in the 12th amendment, which modified the Electoral College process.Later, in 1824, John Quincy Adams got to the White House despite not winning either the popular vote or a majority in the Electoral College. In 1876, the results in several Southern states were disputed, and the lack of clear Electoral College results led to a deal in the House that gave Rutherford B. Hayes the presidency even though he won neither the Electoral College nor the popular vote. That ultimately begat the Electoral Count Act of 1887, which is still in effect today. There is a great deal of concern about the presidential election and specifically about what will happen if the results are unclear.President Donald Trump and his constituents’ have suggested that the system is only fair if a winner is declared on election night. But that's a horrible misreading of the US Constitution and US law, both of which make clear that the technical process of picking a president is only getting started on Election Day.
It is the heart of God that both righteousness and justice prevail.
We will stand by as history is being made for better or for worse in our country. However, merely highlighting our struggles or strengths is not my goal here or concern in sharing our country’s history. My purpose is to prove without a doubt that our confidence should be in the divine plan of God for all of our lives. It is my heart desire to share at the center of the problem of racism, police brutality, and political tyranny in our country is the placing mankind’s agenda over God’s agenda of a Kingdom-centered theology which shares righteousness and justice to all mankind. It is the heart of God’s kingdom that both righteous and justice originate (Psalm 89:14) as Dr. Tony Evans shares in his message “Oneness Embraced”.Love and prayers to you all in the days ahead for you and your families.Quote “We must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish together as fools”. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.Prayer- God of heaven and earth, Father of the human family, we give you thanks for the freedom we exercise and the many blessings of democracy we enjoy in these United States of America. We ask for your protection and guidance for all who devote themselves to the common good, working for justice and peace at home and around the world. We lift up all our duly elected leaders and public servants, those who will serve us as president, as legislators and judges, those in the military and law enforcement.Heal us from our differences and unite us, as one O Lord, with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice in the years ahead for all people, and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst. We trust you Lord always thank you in Christ's name, Amen.
