Word for the day "Our walk with the Lord is progressive"

I Corinthians 8:1 (NLT) Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that “we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.

The walk with the Lord is a lifelong process, and we never arrive.

Our walk with the Lord is progressive. Once we are saved, by placing our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our journey begins.

We grow from that point onward until we’re finally with the Lord, face to face, in Heaven.

And how exactly do we grow? While we are alive, growth with the Lord can occur day to day, month to month, year to year if we are mindful.

God loves us too much to leave us living here on earth without growth.

I am sharing my conviction that our relationship with the Lord is progressive.

I believe that God is always pushing me to grow in the love of God, love of neighbor, and love of self.

Among other things, we grow in our knowledge of spiritual things. But here’s a reality the Word warns us about.

When we grow in our knowledge, there’s an inherent danger of being “puffed up” (or pride-filled) by that knowledge, read today’s devotion carefully.

I know it sounds like a contradiction. You would think that the more knowledge we acquire about God, the more we would be like God.

However, knowledge on its own is not enough to make us more like the Lord. It must be accompanied by God’s unconditional love, which the Holy Spirit produces in us (Romans 5:5).

We need the knowledge and love of the Lord concurrently in our lives.

Again, knowledge is a good and necessary thing in the Christian life. But knowledge apart from God’s love is a very dangerous thing, which is why we are warned to do more than just know.

We’re told that if we want to have a positive impact and edify others, we must also love.

In fact, in our progressive relationship with the Lord, we all are invited to find healing from every pain, every sorrow, and every failure at God’s table during communion.

I believe that, in our divided and fearful world, our faith in the Lord offers us a way to live in connection with each other, belonging, in a supernatural loving trust.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking your spiritual knowledge is enough. Pray that you possess God’s love in proportion to what you know about the Lord.

Point to ponder

In our relationship, the Lord assures us beyond human knowledge, that death, hate, and oppression are never the last word.

And I believe in my relationship with the Lord. Have an amazing day!
