Word for the day "Living the single life"

I Corinthians 7:7 (MSG) Sometimes I wish everyone were single like me—a simpler life in many ways! But celibacy is not for everyone any more than marriage is. God gives the gift of the single life to some, the gift of the married life to others.8-9 I do, though, tell the unmarried and widows that singleness might well be the best thing for them, as it has been for me. But if they can’t manage their desires and emotions, they should, by all means, go ahead and get married. The difficulties of marriage are preferable by far to a sexually tortured life as a single.

The challenge of living life as a single person.

According to the latest U.S. Census, there are 124.6 million single adults in America.

This constitutes a large, and growing portion of our society, yet a portion that’s often overlooked in the area of spiritual care.

So, if you’re a single adult or know one, I’d like to speak to you today.

You may be single by choice or as a result of unfortunate circumstances.

You may have future plans to marry, or you may sense God calling you to a life of singleness.

No matter what your situation, God’s will for you right now is to be satisfied in the Lord, and to trust God’s plan for you at this time in your life. Please hear my heart this day!

The single life does not have to mean a lonely life for you.

You get to choose how you respond to your singleness. Learn from it. Grow in it especially in the lonely days.

Singleness does not have to equal loneliness. You can survive the temptations unique to your situation in our world today.

Start by going to God and connecting with others.

I do understand, being single is hard. Being in a relationship is hard as well, you can ask anyone in any relationship.

Life is hard if the truth is told. I don’t think life becomes any easier just because you are in a relationship or even marriage.

It all depends on the quality of the relationship you are involved in, and your journey.

As a matter of fact, in reality, that’s what being single is a journey. It’s not that you’re a bad person.

It’s not that something is wrong with you. It’s not that you ruined that last relationship and lost your soulmate for life.

It’s simply that, right now, you haven’t found someone to do life with for any number of reasonable possibilities.

Point to ponder

As people of God, we need to embrace that marriage and being in a relationship with someone is not necessarily the answer to loneliness.

Learning who you are and how you as a person are connected with God, I believe is the starting point for all of us (Genesis 1:27).

So, live life, smile and enjoy this part of the journey. And remember being single isn't a curse, it's a gift!
