Word for the day "Are you led by your emotions or by God?"
Proverbs 29:11 (NKJV) A fool vents all his feelings, [a]But a wise man holds them back.
In our developmental process, learning to manage our emotions is imperative.
Who is in charge of your emotions? Perhaps you are, or have you formed the unreliable habits of letting other people or stressful situations determine the quality of your thoughts and the direction of your day?
If you are wise and if you’d like to build a better life for yourself and your loved ones you’ll learn to control your emotions before your emotions control you.
Human emotions are highly volatile, decidedly unpredictable, and often unreliable. Our emotions are like the weather, only far more fickle.
So, we must learn to live by faith, not by the ups and downs of our own emotional roller coasters. How do you live your life as a child of God?
We must learn the art of being led by our emotions or by our God.
People live more by their feelings more than anything else much of the time. I believe this is true because if we observe by listening and watching, you’ll hear and see people talk about how they feel more than just about anything else.
This is our challenge as we grow in the Lord. To know the difference between being led by our emotional feelings or by the promptings that are from the Lord.
Sometime you will probably be gripped by a strong negative feeling. Distrust it, Examine it, Test it and turn it over to God.
Your emotions will inevitably change; God will not. So trust the Lord completely, and observe those negative feelings slowly go away.
Emotional people make big mistakes when they base decisions on how they feel rather than obeying God and what they know is the right thing to do.
We have to learn how to live beyond our feelings and do what’s right even when we feel wrong.
Point to ponder
Learning how to live under the leading of God or my emotions has been one of the greatest challenges of my life. Sometimes, I get it right and sometimes I get it wrong.
But, I realize now more than ever that my destiny is at stake, and it’s time to let the Lord teach me (John 14:16-17).
It’s time to make changes and it all starts with you and it can start today! Have a great week precious and blessed people of God.
Quote “I may no longer depend on pleasant impulses to bring me before the Lord. I must rather respond to principles I know to be right, whether I feel them to be enjoyable or not” Jim Elliot
Prayer- Gracious Father, You are my (our) strength and my refuge. As we journey through this day, we will encounter events that cause us emotional distress. Lord, when we are troubled, let us turn to You. Keep us steady, Lord, and in those difficult moments, renew a right spirit inside our heart. In Christ name, Amen
