Word for" the day "God and Incestuous Relationships"

Leviticus 18:6 (MSG) “Don’t have sex with a close relative. I am God.

Today’s message is a Repost:

I’ll never forget the night I was reading of the story of a Pastor who was listening to Chuck Swindoll address about ten thousand Christians.

Right in the middle of his message, he heard a statement that virtually sucked the air right out of the room.

He proclaimed, “I know some of you are having sex with your children. And I’m telling you to stop it.

I’m asking you to stop it. You must consider the impact on your child. You must stop having sex with your children.”

Why on earth would he say that? Because he was the pastor of a church and heard the confessions of people who’d been involved in incestuous relationships.

It is reported that the trauma of child abuse actually rewires parts of the brain in both function and structure. The effects are quite serious.

The abnormalities can last right through adulthood, leaving the victim with such problems as aggression, poor emotional control, memory and attention disorders, and serious mood and personality disorders.

This does not include all of the sexual dysfunctions that emerge as a result of incestuous relationships.

The trauma of incestuous relationships is devastating.

Most times children are also more likely to report being estranged from one or both parents and having been shamed by others when they tried to share their experience.

Additional symptoms include low self-esteem, self-loathing, somatization, low self-efficacy, pervasive interpersonal difficulties and feelings of contamination, worthlessness, shame, and helplessness.

The nature of this sexual sin is such that all of us would rather leave it in silence. But we simply cannot. Therefore, I repeat what Chuck Swindoll said that night: “You must stop having sex with your children.”

And I would add, “I beg you to get the help you need.” This was the first time I have ever written on this matter and it was sincerely not an easy post.

 Point to ponder

Consequently, survivors of incest are at an increased risk for revictimization, often without a conscious realization that they are being abused.

This heart polarizing issue often creates confusion for survivors because the line between involuntary and voluntary participation in sexual behavior has been breached. Let us remember this matter of incestuous relationships and keep the victims in our prayers.
