Word for the day "Protect your Heart"
Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Learn the art of protecting yourself against the powers of our world.
We must protect ourselves against the powers of darkness that find their way into your heart and mind? Be careful of the times you’re opening yourself to daily practices of ungodly words, music, or images.
You can fill your heart and mind with practices that entice you away from God’s Word. However, you can also practice self-responsibility by using God’s word to build a defense in your walk with God.
With God’s word and practices, we can create a wall of defense against some of the evil messages the world so often sends our way.
Several metaphors refer to God's protection for his people. The Lord is our Shield, Fortress, Hiding Place, Keeper, Refuge, Rock, Shade, Shelter, and Stronghold.
In many of the passages that use metaphors of God our Protector. The writer of Psalm 119 declared, "I have tried my best to find you–don’t let me wander from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (Psalm 119:10-11). Hiding God’s Word in your heart literally means memorizing and meditating on the Bible.
One significant part of our self- responsibility is to guard our heart against evil.
Have you ever had to defend yourself when misunderstood or falsely accused? I have, standing before my accusers, who twisted the truth the justify the means.
I learned a lesson then, that self-vindication invariably falls on deaf ears, but God will filter misunderstanding and twisted truth through His own lens of exoneration causing all things to work to together for good to those that love Him.
To those that are the called according to His good pleasure (Romans 8:28). You’ve been given the responsibility to guard your heart and to keep track of the things you hide inside it.
So, what’s in there? Anger? Lust? defiled images from media, the movies, or the web? greed? unforgiveness? are you envious of others? If you’re struggling with these things may be, it’s because you have not properly protected yourself.
Are you having a hard time finding God and following his commands? Hiding God’s word in your heart will create spiritual maturity by guarding against those things that hurt you and displease the Lord.
Point to ponder
When my heart is secure in God as Defense, I gain a deep and quiet assurance, When God takes up the role of my Defender, my life is secure and defended from all adversarial opponents. Have an amazing day.
