Word for the day "Created for the purpose of being, not doing"
Genesis 2:7 (NIV) Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
How we understand who we are and whose we are, makes a significant difference.
I wonder did you know filling our lives with activity and busyness puts us in dangerous territory.Aside from making us emotionally frazzled and physically exhausted, it’s also threatening to make us both intellectually and spiritually deficient.Often, we think busy makes us more productive, but busy can be a sedative to a false sense of security.I am not suggesting you live a passive life or life without the joy of living. Nor am I suggesting there’s a dichotomy between being and doing. But I am suggesting there’s a priority to our life. Why?– Doing often creates and perpetuates the myth that we are in control; being acknowledges that God’s in control.– Doing often commits us to safety; being acknowledges that the Christian life is one of faith-and that means one of risk.– Doing often engenders spiritual pride; being produces humility.– Doing often is about correcting behavioral patterns; being is about spiritual renewal through knowing God.– Doing often is about the reactionary response; being is about thoughtfully, prayerfully, and intentionally bringing what the Bible teaches to bear upon every aspect of our life.
God created mankind (Humankind) in His image and likeness and what we do with this purpose is significant.
The first occurrence of the word "being (NIV) and soul (KJV) " in the Bible is in association with the creation of man and not animals. It is quite apparent that the reason the Lord providentially directed in such a manner is not to lend credence to the naturalistic influences that man has been the purpose and plan of God always. The student who is concerned with truth arrives at it through enlightenment and study, not through criticism of the Bible.Man is not composed of a body, a soul, and a spirit. He is a living soul. He does not have a soul: he is a soul.Man alone was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27 KJV). The other living creatures were not.
Point to ponder
What are you “being” as you live your life doing? The Lord created you to have life and to have life more abundantly (John 10:10). The purpose of "Being" is the divine plan of the Lord in your life.
