Word for the day: "Get up"
Judges 7:9(NIV) During that night the LORD said to Gideon, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands.
What do you do when you lose a job? Lose a dream? Lose your Hope? Are you then paralyzed? Are you unable to move, think, or function? Maybe you spiral downward into destructive self-pity. In our human capacity these are quite normal reactions. However, in our spiritual capacity our response to these types of losses should be different. The difference is because we face each situation or circumstance in our lives with the help of God ordering our steps (Proverbs 20:24a).
Sisters and brothers no matter what losses or potential losses “you”, maybe facing this season in your life. I urge and recommend you take steps to make your disappointment and pain work for you. These emotions have energy behind them; so direct them into something positive in your life. And redirecting your emotions to a reliance on the Lord is the beginning of new day in your life.
Over fifty times in the Bible people are told to “get up!” So do something, anything, clean the house, read a book to the kids, gather friends together to pray, go help someone else, the possibilities are endless. Start with the easy tasks and work your way to those that are harder. Read today’s scripture and see what the Lord told Gideon and now replace “Gideon’s” name with yours “ “ and see if you don’t sense the Spirit of God in your life today telling you to “Get Up” from wherever you are!
Get up! If you spiral down, you only compound your loss. If you move amidst and through your situation, you can turn your disappointment and pain inside out. It’s the first step in the right direction. The words of the Lord for your life today is to just “Get Up” from there, and see won’t you have victory just as Gideon did in the camp of the Midianites. Today’s message is especially for single parents, married couples, those living the tough times of single life, leaders in the making, those with job related problems, educational decision folks, career choices need to be made, caring for elderly parents, and survivors of rape, molestation, incest, incarceration, infidelity, adultery!
