Word for the day: "Sound in the Mulberry Tree"

II Samuel 5: 22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 23 And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.Today’s word shares the power of inquiry with the Lord. When David made this inquiry he had just fought the Philistines, and gained a signal victory from the Lord. The Philistines came up in great hosts, but, by the help of God, David had easily put them to flight. Please observe, however, that when they came a second time, V22- David did not go up to fight them without inquiring of the Lord. Once he had been victorious, and he might have said, as many of us have done in other cases, “I shall be victorious again; I may rest quite sure that if I conquered once I shall triumph yet again. Not so, was David’s response and he recognized and gained one battle by the strength of the Lord; he would not venture upon another until he had ensured the same. “He inquired, “Shall I go up against them?” He waited for God’s timing and until God’s signal was given. As we face times of critical decisions in our lives, let us learn from David to take no step without inquiring of God. And you will be assured “Break out” victory in life today and for the rest of your life.Divine providence of God comes, never go before it. Whoever, goes on their way before God is subject to avoidable hardships, but those who walk in a blessed path are the ones who sees the footsteps of Providence. This word may be needed by someone reading It today, there may be some young brother/sister here who Is about to unadvisedly take a step which may be the cause of their ruin, temporarily; I beseech you, if you love the Lord wait for God’s counsel. Unless you can be sure that you have God's approval of your next steps, let me beseech you to stop, and not take so much as one half a step, or lift your foot, until you have inquired of God, and have been given the answer, “Go up against them.”V24 from the Sound in the mulberry tree.Elder Baker
