Genesis 17:1 (NIV) When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.It is difficult to distinguish between proper names and the character of God. Throughout the Hebrew and Christian Bible there are many names for God that portray his nature and character. One of them is El Shaddai, meaning “God Almighty”.God had already promised Abraham that He would make his descendants a great nation and give them land of their own (see Genesis 12:1-3, 13:15-17). But Abraham had no son through whom this promise could be fulfilled. The Lord, by identifying Himself as the Almighty God in this verse, declared to Abraham that He had the power to make this happen. Sisters and brothers, I trust today you know that whatever is going on in your life that is sterile? Our God can bring it to life in meaningful way, just as He did for Abraham in giving him a son named Isaac (Genesis 17:21).The Hebrew words behind this compound name also express the idea of plenty. Some interpreters suggest that they may be rendered as “the All-Sufficient One” or “the All-Bountiful One.” God not only has the power to bless His people, but He will also do so abundantly. The apostle Paul put it like this: God is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).Prayer: Almighty God, today we submit to Your will and way for our lives, Let Your will be done in our life today, as was done for Abraham the father of many nations, O El Shaddai God we ask that You would cause life to be birth in the sterile areas of our lives in this moment, allow plenty to be released from the realms of “Glory”, And we will forever give your name honor and Glory Amen!
