Word for the day “The four-grounds of the sower”

Matthew 13 (NKJV) On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Beloved leaders,

Jesus is directly connected to our spiritual and leadership growth.

Today’s devotion is located in the Gospel for today where Jesus is giving the distinct four-ground parabolic message of the sower and the seed. It has to do with the growth and development of the kingdom of God. We learn that Jesus “went out of the house and sat down by the sea” and that large crowds gathered around him. This is Jesus speaking to the whole world of yesterday and today essentially.

Sitting down, Jesus is, again, in the attitude of the astonishing teacher and merciful judge, and he speaks the parable of the sower. The sower sows far and wide, some of the seed landing on the path, firstly where the birds eat it up; some secondly falling on rocky ground, where it is scorched in the sun; some thirdly sown among thorns, where the life is choked off; and some fourth and finally sown on rich soil, where it bears fruit thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.

Point to ponder

Keep in mind that Jesus himself, in person, is ultimately the seed sown. Jesus is the Logos and word of God that wants to take root in us on a personal level. This seed is sown far and wide, through all sorts of means, but in you, let the seed be sown deep, where it can’t be stolen, scorched, or choked.

Ultimately your spiritual growth, leadership growth and destiny is predicated on the Lord taking root to deep in the fabric of your life personally and holistically.
