Word for the day “Prayers for Ida aftermath.”
We here at Grace and Truth Leadership are in prayer as our concerns are directed towards the aftermath of hurricane Ida.
To those impacted directly and indirectly in Louisiana and the reported six other states. Communities are grieving and trying to clean up after floods turned highways and homes into death traps in the Northeast. The aftermath of Hurricane Ida ravaged cities with unprecedented rainfall in some areas, leaving at least 46 people dead in six states. The victims included a Connecticut state trooper who was swept away as he responded to a missing person's call. Most of the deaths were in New Jersey, where Gov. Phil Murphy said a majority of the victims were overtaken by rising floodwaters while in their vehicles. In New York City, a lot of people who died were sadly found in their home basements.
Meanwhile, communities in Louisiana, where the hurricane made landfall, have no power and are struggling with a severe fuel shortage. President Joe Biden has visited the state last week to survey storm damage and meet with state and local officials. Many hospitals in the area were already at capacity with COVID-19 patients. Now, injuries from the storm could push health workers and emergency responders to their capacity. We are seeing how we can provide support and prayers for emergency responders and the communities. Let’s keep our communities in prayer during this difficult time.
