Word for the day “Marriage created by God”

Mark 10:5 (NKJV) And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this [a]precept. 6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

 Beloved leaders,

In today’s message, Jesus teaches about the sanctity and permanence of marriage. Now we begin to see why the love of a husband and wife is a confirmation of God’s love. The Father and the Son—while maintaining their uniqueness—give themselves completely to each other, and this mutual giving is the Holy Spirit.

So when two people come together in love, and form one flesh, they reflect and are a microcosm of the love between the Father and the Son. And when their love gives rise to a child, this also reflects a critical expression of the divine purpose of the Holy Spirit.

Father, mother, and children are ultimately a full expression of the divine Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at its finest.

And this is why Jesus speaks so passionately about marriage, and why his Church, at its best, has sounded the alarm of Christ up and down the centuries. It is because marriage is such an honorable sign that the Church has endeavored vehemently to protect it (Hebrews 13:4).

I know that the Church gets criticized for surrounding marriage and sexuality with so many regulations. I realize that many critics of the church through the ages have fought against the standards and moralism of the Church. But consider with me that human beings always surround precious things with laws, restrictions, and guidelines. If there were no standards or guidelines chaos would emerge, as we see today in the marriage institution.

So, the church takes this posture in marriage to protect, uphold, honor, and preserve the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit entity of the institution God created (Genesis 2:18-25).

 Point to ponder

Marriage today has evolved in my opinion away from being an expression of God. So, as a result, we see marriage today being treated as anything but being in the image of God. I’ll be praying for you and your marriages and those who aspire to be married.
