Word for the day "5 ways to confront procrastination"

Ecclesiastes 5:4 (HCSB) When you make a vow to God, don’t delay fulfilling it, because He does not delight in fools. Fulfill what you vow.

Time to move the habit of procrastination out of your life and fulfill your destiny.

When turbulent times arrive, it’s easy (and tempting) to avoid those challenging tasks that you would prefer to avoid altogether.

But the habit of procrastination has all kinds of destiny aborting implications:

  1. important work goes unfinished
  2. your valuable energy is wasted in the process of putting off the things that remain undone.

This leaves you in a place of feeling unfulfillment and regret. There is nothing more self-diminishing then allowing the influence of procrastination to control your life.

      3. ask yourself what are you waiting for, or more accurately what are you afraid of?              And why?

As you examine the emotional setbacks that have blocked your path, you may discover that perhaps you are waiting for the “perfect” moment, that instant in time when you feel neither afraid nor anxious.

But in truth, perfect moments like these are few and far between (Philippians 4:6-7).

One of the reasons you are reading this message today is because it’s time to confront the areas of procrastination in your life.

It’s time to understand that God and you can accomplish anything in life.

       4. stop waiting for the perfect moment and focus, instead, on finding the right                         moment to do what needs to be done.

Then, trust God and get busy. When you do, you’ll discover that you and the Lord, working together, can accomplish great things and that you can accomplish them sooner rather than later.

I have some things in my life that I must move on right now, how about you? Once you acquire the courage of doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done, you will avoid untold trouble, worry, and stress.

        5. learn to defeat procrastination by paying less attention to your fears and more                    attention to your responsibilities.

God has created a world that is replete with procrastinators and rewards for men and women who “do it right now.”In other words, life doesn’t wait on any of us people of God, and neither should you. Procrastination has many faces.Sometimes it’s simply choosing pleasure over commitment and discipline.Sometimes it’s an attempt to avoid something negative or potential conflict. And sometimes it’s getting paralyzed by overwhelming life challenges.Points to ponderProcrastination can also extend beyond your professional life, affecting other important parts of our personal lives. Not being proactive on that harmful symptom or being checked out medically leaves an unknown illness untreated. In fact, avoiding a difficult conversation only prolongs the conflict that exists. And delaying an important destiny decision, like ending a relationship, making a serious commitment, going back to school, engaging in your own spiritual development or finally changing careers.Procrastination impact can lead to living below your potential, purpose, and the Lord’s plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV).

  • Is it time to confront your tendency to procrastinate?
  • What areas in your life are you procrastinating?
  • Do you make excuses for not doing what needs to be done?
  • Do you know how to get started in prioritizing what’s next in your life?
  • Do you need a coach or mentor in your life to help you?
  • The time is now to eliminate procrastination out of your life

Prayer:Dear Lord, when we are confronted with things that need to be done, give us your courage and wisdom to do them now, not later. Amen, Amen!
