Word for the day "What is your one thing"?

Luke 10:42 (NKJV) “But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

We all need to be clear or get clear on the one thing we are passionate about in our life.

Everyone has one thing in life, whether they are believers or nonbelievers.

It’s the one thing that makes their blood pump, the thing that gets them up in the morning, the thing they are passionate about.

What’s the one thing you are passionate about?

David told us about his one thing in (Psalm 27) : “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple” (verse 4).

Please notice for King David, the Lord was that one thing!!

In today’s reading when Jesus came to visit Mary and Martha, Martha was understandably hooking up a feast for Jesus while Mary sat at His feet, listening to what the master had to say.

But Martha got stressed out because Mary wasn’t helping her. Jesus looked at her and said, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41–42).

This doesn’t make Martha a bad person people of God, the point is God at some point in your life should be the one thing that has to stand head and shoulders over all we desire.

Making sense of what is imperative for our lives is a matter of great significance.

A simple paraphrase might be, “Martha, I appreciate a homecooked meal, but there is a time and a place for everything.

The time now is just right for me to talk to you about what really matters in life, and Mary gets that.”

But please understand it wasn’t wrong what Martha was doing in preparing the meal.

It was only wrong for Martha to impose her decision and choice in that moment of food preparation onto Mary, who needed this time with the Lord for only the Lord and Mary knows.

Many will never get to the place where Mary was in her spiritual life because we are unwilling to release control of certain areas of our lives when the Lord speaks.

If we do release control, it usually is due to a process that God brings us through.

Whatever caused Mary to seize that moment and time with the Lord, I pray you to get to that place as well with the Master.

Point to ponder

Our greatest danger in life is permitting the urgent things to crowd out the significant things. For David and for Mary, that one thing was being in God’s presence.

What is your one thing? Do you see yourself growing in your desire for the Lord?

Wherever you are in your spiritual journey make sure you find your time with the Lord, no matter what people have to say about it!
