Word for the day "The need to communicate with God consistently"

Psalm 142:1 (NKJV) I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. 2 I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble.

We can often neglect the most obvious things in our spiritual life.

It’s the most obvious things that can become the most neglected. Would you agree? Hold that thought as you consider David’s declaration in the proceeding verse, “I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble.”

What’s David saying here? He’s simply saying that he took the time to share his troubles with God. David communicated with the Lord.

That’s a rather obvious thing, isn’t it? Of course, David shared his troubles with God, and that’s what all God’s children do, right?

Go back to our initial thought: We often neglect the most obvious things in the spiritual life, and this is especially true when it comes to our communication with God. Do you communicate everything to God?

One of the things I’ve noticed is that it’s very easy sometimes to become complacent with the work we have done for the Kingdom of God.

Many times, we tend to slow down and relax. In some cases, we decide to take a pause in our connecting regularly to God.

It’s like taking an indefinite vacation from the ministry of communicating to the Lord we are called to serve.

However, it’s important to recognize that this tendency of slowing down and relaxing in our spiritual talking to the Lord could be the beginning signs of backsliding and relapse into your previous life uncommitted to God.

Talking to the Lord is a discipline you need remain consistent.

Talking to God, having a true and sincere conversation with the Lord, is something we often get stuck on.

It’s very easy for us to slip into the hindrance of routine and allow our communication with the Lord to become a lifeless formality.

Or we can just be plain old slothful when it comes to trying to commune and talk to God.There’s a price involved in prayer, but it’s always the price of victory and never of defeat.

The big question is: Are we willing to pay for it as David was? I’m not including inevitable circumstances in which someone has no control over, that cause you to have to slow down some in talking to God.

But, let’s not quickly skip over the obvious aspects of our treasures with God, like prayer. Let’s not make any assumptions in this area, but instead, let’s stop and determine if we are really doing what David did.

Are we truly talking to God, or have we subtly slipped into the habit of neglecting something so fundamental to our faith?

The good news is today’s message may be what you needed to realign yourself with God. Blessings and love to you all.

Point to ponder

• Be careful when you feel the need to take a break from communicating with God.
• Have a sense of awareness of your own spiritual challenges.
• Always be swift to realign yourself with the Lord.
• Do you have people in your life that you are accountable to spiritually?
• How serious are you about your relationship with the Lord?
• What’s next with you and God?
• Do you know if you are growing spiritually in God?
