Word for the day "The Power of silence"
Isaiah 30:15 (NKJV) For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
The art of conversation works through communication of speaking and listening.
Have you ever had a conversation with someone and simply felt like you said too much? Have you ever wished you could take back something you said?We often learn the hard way that words can cause pain and create problems. In fact, sometimes people are simply not ready to hear or handle what you have to say at a specific point in time.I have discovered one way to measure your use of words is by routinely practicing the discipline of silence.Take a day to process and evaluate your conversations. Spend some time in silence to reflect on how you’ve used and, in some instances, abused words.Do you use words to rationalize, lie, deceive, exaggerate, or manipulate? We all do at some point, but today’s message is to help empower you about the power of silence.
The power of quietness and silence is really underrated and should be leveraged by all of us.
In silence, you’ll remember the words you spoke quickly in anger and slowly in apology, arrogantly in accusation and humbly in confession. In silence, you’ll begin to hear, and you’ll begin to experience his renewal. Then you can begin to make changes where necessary.“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” great people of God. We should train ourselves to be quiet also toward all people. There are times when we should speak and when words are mighty and full of blessing. Universal silence would not be a blessing to the world.Among the most beneficent of God's gifts to us, is the power of speech. There are people who seem to exercise no restraint whatever on their speech. They allow every passing thought or feeling to take form in words. They never think what the effect of their words will be or how they will fly like arrows shot by some careless marksman and will pierce hearts they were never meant to hurt.We can experience friendships that are broken, and injuries that are inflicted, which can never be repaired.Careless words are forever making injuries in families, workplaces, churches, friendships around our world every day. This should be your ambition: to live a quiet life. The lesson may be hard for many of us reading today’s message, but it is well worth all the cost of learning. It brings strength and peace to the heart. Speech is good, but I have discovered silence is better in many cases.
Point to ponder
As we mature in the Lord we learn to appreciate the changes we need to make to become that which the Lord has need of.And most importantly it can help you use your words in ways that encourage others and please God. Enjoy this marvelous day!
