Word for the day "Parents and children"
Luke 18:15-17 (MSG) People brought babies to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. When the disciples saw it, they shooed them off. Jesus called them back. “Let these children alone. Don’t get between them and me. These children are the kingdom’s pride and joy. Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”After raising my daughter Ashley who is now an adult and raising her own children. I felt today’s message would be good for some parents, grandparents, and all those who stand in the gap as parents. I recently heard a story about a couple who brought their two kids with them on a Saturday run to a hardware store. Mom went in one direction and Dad took the kids in another. For just a minute Dad wasn’t paying attention to the kids, he was preoccupied looking at some of the plumbing hardware he came to buy. When he turned around, he was stunned. His daughter was climbing off a display toilet and his son was pulling his pants down to take his turn. What in the world was Dad supposed to do now? Well, he did what most of us would have done, he grabbed the kids, found mom as quick as he could, and laughed the whole way home. And wouldn’t you know, the next time they visited that store, the toilet seats were all taped down.Point to ponder - If you have kids, you know they can be hilarious, embarrassing, tender, and incredibly challenging. And as God’s children, I sometime wonder if he doesn’t feel the same way about us. Today’s message is dedicated to my grandchildren Amiyah 7, Domonique 2, and Avery 4 in June.
