Word for the day "Our emotions and God"

Psalm 109:26,30 (NKJV) Help me, O LORD my God, With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD.Many of us have an inability to express the anger and resentment we feel and experience. Have you ever at times had a melt down to the point where you just exploded emotionally to let off steam. I have deep feelings too, but is it acceptable for people of God to let off steam. How do you let go of your anger and emotions? In the Bible (Psalm 109:1-13) we read David's angry words against an enemy. "What's that doing in the Bible?" you may question. "How could David pray all those evil things about his enemy? That's pure hatred." Please read it for yourself!"David's words didn't surprise God," please notice, "God already knew what he was thinking and feeling. David was simply expressing his pain and anger honestly to his God." Do you express your pain and anger to God? Hopefully today's message will provide some Revelation!I encourage you today sisters and brothers to express your hurts and pains before God and in doing so you probably won't dump it on others in your life in a destructive way. I also want to let you know that King David was as honest about his need for God as he was about expressing his feelings. He closed the psalm by praying: "Help me, O LORD my God, With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD" (verses 26,30).I think the way David acknowledged his feelings is healthy. If you come to your prayer time feeling angry, depressed or frustrated, and then mouth a bunch of pious platitudes as if God doesn't know how you feel, do you think the Lord can't handle your raw emotions, and truth of your circumstances?Point to ponder- Acknowledging your emotions also involves being transparent in front of a few trusted friends. During his travels, Paul had Barnabas, Silas or Timothy to lean on. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus expressed His grief to His inner circle of Peter, James and John. If you have one or two people like this in your life, you are truly blessed.Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that we can be real and honest with You. Help us develop a few trusted friends who will also embrace and have capacity for our emotional honesty. In His Service,Pastor James Baker, Jr.
