John 8:47(HCSB) The one who is from God listens to God's words. This is why you don't listen, because you are not from God.There are times God speaks loud and clear to us. More often, the Lord speaks in a quiet voice-and if you are wise, you will be listening carefully when the Lord speaks to you. To do so, you must be intentional to set aside quiet moments each day to study His Word and sense the Lord’s direction. And you can be sure that every time you listen to God, you receive a lesson in character-building (At least that’s what happens to me, and trust me this is not an easy discipline).Can you quiet yourself long enough to listen to your conscience? Are you attuned to the subtle guidance of your intuition or inner voice? Are you willing to pray sincerely and then to wait quietly for God's response? Hopefully so, because the more carefully you listen to our God, the more the Lord will work in you and through you. (We have a tendency to want someone else to tell us what the Lord is saying, but God wants to speak directly to you).Usually God is not sending His messages on stone tablets or city billboards. More often, the Lord communicates in subtler ways. If you sincerely desire to hear the Lord’s voice (and strengthen your character), you must listen carefully, and you must do so in the silent moments of your daily life. Today’s reading is pretty tough and hard to accept, but is great cause to evaluate!Point to ponder- Today, take a few moments to consider the fact that prayer is a dialogue (two-way communication with God).
