Word for the day "Divine Purpose"
Genesis 50:20 (NKJV) As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about [o]this present result, to preserve many people alive. 21 So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke [p]kindly to them. What’s your routine before going to bed at night? When you are at home, I lock the doors, close the windows, say a prayer for the day, have some unwind time with my wife, Robin, then I normally lay still until falingl asleep. And while this is the way I function in the physical world, I have to stop and ask myself if I’m doing the same in the spiritual realm of my life. What about you? Do you secure your spiritual house? Do you spend time reading and studying the Bible, praying, going to church and connecting with other believers? You might be asking, “Why is all that so important?” It is my heart’s desire to be a vibrant voice and person in advancing God’s Kingdom here on earth! There are several reasons, but the one I want to address with you is getting to a place of Godly emotional security, being able to sort through all the things we experience, the challenges, conflicts, disappointments, surprises and to take it all in, knowing that though it might be painful, God isn’t finished. He is able to take our pain and suffering and use it for Divine purpose. When I think about the pain and difficulties that so many of us experience, one of the Bible stories that encourages me is in today’s word (Genesis 50:20). At the end of the story, when Joseph made himself known to his brothers, his answer to his brothers’ fears was: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” In much the same way God uses our suffering and pain; in the end God uses it to accomplish something great. As I write this message today to you, I’d like to be clear that this message is not designed to have you help us in a time of crisis.
