Word for the day: "A Father who cares"

Happy belated Father's Day to all our Word- Cup Fathers, I pray that you had a wonderfully blessed day with your loved ones. We thank God for all you do as fathers and we pray that God will continue to guide you in your role as the head of your home. Be blessed men of God!Mark 14:36 (KJV) And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.Abba, Father is the name by which Jesus the Son addressed God the Father in the agonizing prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Abba is an Aramaic word of affection for “Father”, the same as the meaning of Papa in English, that’s what my granddaughter calls me “Papa”. In the first century many Jewish people avoided such use of the affectionate term for God. They considered God as being exalted and larger than life “Being” who demanded respect.God rightfully so to the Jewish people was to be spoken of in hushed reverence, rather than having addressed God as a member of the family. But it was also appropriate for Jesus to address the Father as “Abba.” As God’s Son, Jesus knew more intimately than anyone how to call out to God. Jesus Himself declared, “As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father” (John 10:15). What do you call God? Or How do you call out to God?It was through Jesus’ death on the cross; it was made possible for all of us to know God as a loving, forgiving Father. In many lives our relationships with our natural father’s has been broken and lacking in quality and substance. But thanks be to Jesus we can connect with our supernatural “Father” and be made whole no matter what deficits we have faced with our natural father’s in the past, present or even the future. The apostle Paul declares, Because ye are sons/daughters, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father (Galatians 4:6). Is it possible that God knew that many of us would not have a authentic loving relationship with our natural father? And is it possible that’s why today we can call our God “Abba, Father” which brings surpassing healing and wholeness to our relationship with our heavenly Father.Prayer: Father, today we thank you for your Son Jesus and the way He has made for our lives in You, the healing and transformation that has entered our lives yesterday, today, and forevermore, is beyond human comprehension. And all of this because, you are a “Father” who cares, in Jesus name Amen!!
