Word for the day: "Trapped by Passion"

II Samuel 12:2 (NIV) One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”Today’s message provides spiritual insight for our human condition. It is Godly critical for us to be alerted of the trappings of our often misguided (flesh) passion. We have all seen and many of us have experienced the despair and destruction of human lives by (flesh) passion. Passion in today’s message is the lust of the flesh. It is what makes us feel good temporarily but leaves us feeling bad long term. These are the temptations that stimulate the sexual impulses of our lives. When King David looked at Bathsheba from his balcony and decided he had to have her, the lust of the (flesh) passion took over his life and started a downward spiraling that led to even greater sins in his life. I wonder if anyone besides me can feel today’s message, and hear the heart of God.David went on to commit the sin of murder and cover up. God would eventually judge David for his sin. God’s judgment as the Bible records resulted in God taking the life of David’s child (II Samuel 12:18) “On the seventh day the child died. David’s attendants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead”, but David’s life was spared after he repented. Yes God dealt with David’s sin but still found value, virtue, and provided vision for his life. Are you experiencing the despair and destruction in your life for a fleshly indiscretion by you or someone close to you? If God was able to forgive David, our God is able to forgive you or that person close to you to and find value, virtue, and provide vision for your life. Many great men and women have fallen because of their secret lives of (flesh) passion. As the Lord has been dealing with me in the area of the human private life and the trappings we are susceptible to, I trust God is providing some answers and healing for your life. Sisters and brothers whatever someone does in his or her private life does matter to God and those in your sphere of influence. (Flesh) passion misguided has and will continue to destroy families, friendships, and relationships of all kinds. Subjecting our (flesh) passion under the Lordship of our God, does matter in how a person does his or her job for the Lord!Prayer: Dear Lord, have mercy on we your children, and lead us in the way of everlasting. Reorient and Rebuild our passions in You that all the Glory and honor would go to You, in Christ name Amen.Elder Baker
