Word for the day "Covenant or Marriage Certificate"

Genesis 2:23 (MSG) “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. When God created marriage in the Garden of Eden for man and woman there was a covenant established that connected married couples to God like none other. What do you think is the difference between a covenant and a marriage certificate? A marriage certificate can be acquired from city hall by anyone with a desire to marry would you agree? But a marriage steeped in a Covenant with God is an agreement between you and your mate and most importantly with God. The city clerk may forget about you the next day, but let me assure you today God won’t forget your Covenant! In fact, we who are married may forget about our Covenant with God and if we get honest in this moment it’s all good it happens to the best of us. But our Covenant with God should at some point bring us back to our senses sooner than later. Covenant in relationship with God is the conditional promises made to humanity by God, as revealed in Scripture. As the agreement between God and the ancient Israelites, in which God promised to protect them if they kept His law and were faithful to Him. This same promise of God’s protection holds true for marriage for those who are married in covenant. So my question to you is whether you are married or hope to be married does the distinction between covenant and certificate marriage make sense?Pastor Jack Hayford emphasizes the seriousness of the expression of promises between two people by making this big statement: “The covenant of marriage is the single most important human bond that holds all of God’s work on the planet together.” He goes on to say “No wonder the Lord is passionate about the sanctity of marriage and the stability of the home. This covenant of marriage is based on the covenant God has made with us” I don’t know about you today this is real talk and we all have a lot of work to do. How about you? are you in a marriage honored by city hall or honored by God? And if you are not married and hope to be one day, what kind of marriage would you like to be in?
