Psalm 137:11 (KJV) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
If you are in a relationship with the Lord, you have to guard your heart.
What sorts of things find their way into your heart and mind? If you’re exposing yourself to a constant onslaught of ungodly words, music, or images.
This places you in a position to handle your life in an irresponsible manner but you can fill your heart and mind with God’s Word, and when you do, you’ll create a defense against some of the evil messages the world so frequently sends your way.
We that are in a relationship with the Lord have been given the responsibility to guard our heart and to keep track of the things we hide inside it.
So, what’s in there? Hurt? Lust? Envy or even social media dangers? Are you harboring bitterness? Greed? Are you envious of others?
At times we have to check the status of our heart.
If you are struggling with these things maybe it’s because you have more of the wisdom of this age in your heart than the true wisdom of God.
Are you having a hard time finding God and following His ways? Time for a heart check-up between you and God.
What do you have hidden in your heart? We have to guard our hearts with all diligence because out of it flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
Building good relationships, developing our minds, and strengthening our imaginations must be prioritized in our own lives, but we must also teach them to our children and encourage others with these ideas.
Our hearts are intimately connected to our destiny with the Lord.
Point to ponder
Holding onto God’s word in your heart will foster spiritual growth by guarding against those things that hurt you and displease God. Live in such a way to be a productive person in the Kingdom of God and our everyday living.
