Romans 8:1 (NKJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
All of us have made mistakes. Sometimes, we are swept up by events that encourage us to behave in ways that we later come to regret. And many instances, even when our intentions are honorable, we make errors in judgment that have long-lasting consequences. When we look back at our actions with regret, we may experience magnified feelings of guilt. But God has a solution for the guilt that we may experience. That solution is the Lord’s redemptive forgiveness.
Often times, long after the Lord has forgiven us, we may not allow the release provided by the Lord by withholding forgiveness from ourselves. Instead of accepting God’s release and embracing our past, we can continue to hold ourselves hostage to our past. But when the Lord has given an expiration date to your past, we have to walk in the liberty of which Christ has made us free (Galatians 5:1).
Point to ponder – Do you suffer from feelings of guilt, even after the Lord has released you? Are you experiencing hurt and regret from your past? God wants you to trust His provision of forgiveness and release today and for the rest of your life.
