John 19:28 (MSG) Jesus, seeing that everything had been completed so that the Scripture record might also be complete, then said, “I’m thirsty.”
As we make our way through this life, a great deal of information follows us: birth records, academic information, medical history, work history, credit history, and so on. If all that information were good, no one would mind having it recorded. It’s the negative information we have a problem with. We would prefer to keep it hidden or, better yet, have it erased.
But have you ever tried to have a piece of negative information deleted from your records? Even if it’s erroneous, getting it removed can be extremely difficult. It can follow you around, accusing you, for the rest of your life. I have experienced this challenge in several areas of my life.
With that in mind, look again at what Jesus did to clear the record of your sin. Had the Lord chosen not to die on the cross, your failures would have followed you around for eternity, and your sin would have separated you from God forever. Instead, because of Jesus’ sacrifice, all record of your sin has been wiped clean. You can now stand holy and blameless before the Lord as though you had never sinned. It’s that fresh start that ultimately makes it possible for you to take your life back!
