Word for the day: “Discipline your children with love”

Proverbs 3:11 (NKJV) My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction;12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
A message for parents today: Accept your children without tolerating their wrong actions. Your children not only require discipline, most children want it. Discipline is love, not punishment. Always remember that an ounce of encouragement will go further than a pound of demand. Be firm, be flexible; never promise what you cannot deliver. Try never to discipline your children in anger, haste, or self-righteous attitudes, or hateful words. Parents we have a great deal of work to do!!

The Proverbial second greatest King of Israel Solomon says that proper discipline leads your children toward understanding in life (Proverbs 10:13) and that godly discipline should not be despised as noted in today’s scripture reading. In (I Samuel 2:22-29; 3:13) we see old Eli was an important priest in Israel, yet he was a poor father to his children. Like Jacob, he failed to discipline his sons even after discovering that they were acting improperly towards God and God’s people, but he did not stop them which led to family disaster. When incest plagued the greatest King of Israel David’s house, he got angry, but failed to discipline his son (I Samuel 13:21). How are you doing with your children or in the helping of raising our children today?

Set limits on what your children can read and watch on television. Before you encourage your children to have an open mind, be sure you know what is going into it? Children in today’s context can be biological, adopted, blended families, or spiritual children for spiritual leaders. Wherever, you fit in the scheme of parenting “Discipline children in Love”
